Ten things I'm grateful for this week... #1

In a world where it's so easy to get caught up in the everyday of life, bills, working, stresses of having a family it's easy to forget things that we are grateful for. And to realise that we are so fortunate. I've had a lovely week, and each week as I approach Sunday night I do my pick of the week on Instagram.
So starting tonight I will write what I have been grateful for this week... Feel free to join in. It can be the smallest of things, silly things, things you've seen or heard or simply made you smile this week....
10 things I have been grateful for this week:
1..A lovely bunch of flowers I brought myself this week. I can't wait for it to be spring.
2..Finding new craft friends on Instagram, and treating myself to their work. I think it's so important to support other craft people and small businesses.
3..My gorgeous new sewing machine- I'm in love!
4..Celebrating a weekend with my lovely boyfriend and soulmate in Stratford-upon-Avon
5..Continuing to make lots of lovely cakes, for customers who return for each celebration. I'm grateful they value my work
6..For finding the most loveliest sewing shop in Stratford
7..For my home, and although it gets messy and feels like it always needs decorating ( maybe that's just me) it's homely and filled with everything I love
8..For my blog. This one is relatively new and after closing my last one I decided it was a fresh start.
9..Today for flat shoes, after falling in my wedges yesterday off a Kirb! I may or may not have been a little tipsy... 😉
10.. For tonight tucking my children into bed, knowing I'm doing a good job at being their mummy.

Happy list making... Feel free to join in

Toadstool Love !!

I seemed to of developed a small toadstool obsession, well there are worse things to love! I love the toadstool print from Cath Kidston and had to have the dress. And after buying fabric I also made lampshades for my house and a cute storage box for my sister too.

So you can only imagine how excited I was to find not one but two fellow toadstool fans on Instagram. Who make the most beautiful Toadstool items.

Kate makes the most stunning jewellery.
I've brought myself a beautiful necklace and was so thrilled when she sent me the matching earrings!
Thank you so much Kate, I cant wait to wear them.

You can view and also buy Kate's jewellery here : Kate Selene

Heather makes beautiful pottery in her shed in the garden.
I have brought 2 cute pottery Toadstools which now sit happily on my dresser in the hall.
Everyone comments how cute they are when they visit.
Thank you so much for my pieces Heather!

Making Chocolate Lollies

These cute lollies are so easy and make lovely gifts for children's parties.

What you will need:
Any chocolate will do but I love these bags of candy drops from HobbyCraft They come in so many colours. I've used pink and yellow for my lollies.

You will also need a lolly mould... please pop over to the very lovely Baked By Me. The website is full of lots of chocolate moulds, I have quite a few now and the service is excellent.

You will also need cake pop sticks, which you can find in a lot of supermarkets, or hobby craft....and plenty of sweets, I've used white mice, ice cream sweets and dolly mixtures.

How To ;
1..Melt the candy drops in the microwave, just do it on 30 second bursts of heat. Chocolate can burn very quickly.
2..Spoon the chocolate into the moulds and add the lolly sticks.
3..Let the chocolate set very slightly then pop sweets on and plenty of sprinkles.
4..Pop into the fridge
5..Once set gently remove from the moulds...these moulds are brilliant though and pop out quite easily.

I like to pop my lollies into clear bags. The ones I've used are for putting cards into but found you get more for your money than if you buy special sweet treat bags. These can also be brought in Hobby Craft.

The bags were trimmed to fit the Lolly size and then finished with paper raffia ribbon. These were from Wilkinson in a set of 3.

Taaa Daaa!! super cute gifts

Cath Kidston Chest

Finding an old chest at a charity shop for £10 meant it was just calling out to be taken home up cycled and re loved.
As you can see from the picture below it really was in a sorry state but the basic box was still sturdy.

I had some Annie Sloan paint left over from a previous project, and some lovely fabric from Cath Kidston.
Firstly I removed the lid and then painted the whole of the base in the chalk paint. I have an Annie Sloan rounded \brush which I can highly recommend. The great thing about Annie Sloan chalk paint means you don't need to sand anything down.
Whilst the base was drying I removed the handle off the lid and as the fabric was still in one piece I decided just to staple gun the Cath fabric on top of it.
To trim the lid I used red gingham ribbon using my glue gun.
The handle was then screwed back into place and once the base had dried i screwed the lid back onto the base.

As you can see the end result is just gorgeous and although I absolutely love it I decided to give it as a present to my sister Amie for all her knitting.

You can find glue guns quite cheaply at HobbyCraft

The Toadstall fabric was from Cath Kidston They have loads of lovely fabric by the metre.

And the chalk paint and brush were from Annie Sloan

Amazing how something that was just taken to a charity shop can end up looking so lovely and then be reused again. It could of quite easily been lost in landfill.

Happy Upcycling

Lucky Dip Club

After sitting on the sofa feeling pretty rubbish with my dreadful cold...boo hoo poor me! The post arrived and amongst the bills was this lovely package from Lucky Dip Club

I've been following Lucky dip club on Instagram since last year and loved watching the different boxes each month. There is a theme each month and the boxes are filled with beautiful surprise gifts. Everyone loves receiving snail mail especially when its beautifully packaged and filled with goodies. Most of the gifts inside the box are designed and made by Leona... Soooo Clever!!
When Leona said she was having a sale I decided I'd order a sale box. Her boxes run out super quick so its best to pre order or subscribe. Any way as I said my sale box arrived today and I couldn't be happier.
In the box was the following....

 Pom Pom Gift Tag Kit,
Card Holders,
Sparkly Bow
2 Straws
Thank You Card,
Bunny Card,
Ice Cream Buttons
Personalised K Keyring!

Pretty Papers,
Note Book,
Calendar Note Book,

2 Cute Circus Themed Cards
Playing Card,
3 Cute Gift Cards

I'm now already starting to think what shall I make and who shall I send the cute cards too... I'm thinking the sparkly bow needs to be made into a brooch for my cardigan.

Thank you soooo much Leona for making me feel a little better today.
Wishing you loads of luck in your new premises,(although you wont need it)
And look forward to seeing more goodies and buying more from you

Happy Mail
